Abstract

The access system, for a protected area or building, has an enclosed entry zone divided internally to define at least two adjacent corridors. Each of these has a door at one end communicating with the outside and a door at the other end communicating with the inside of the protected area or building. The door locking mechanisms is controlled by a logic circuit. One of the corridors is used for entry and has an element detecting the presence of someone within an initial controlled sector, a metal detector for detecting metal objects carried through the corridor and a second element similar to the first associated with a final controlled sector. The other corridor is used for exit from the protected area or building and has only a detection sector responsive to the presence of someone, for initiating unlocking of the exit door. The system allows the number of persons entering and leaving to be automatically registered.
