Abstract

The controller monitors the current supplied to electromechanical equipment such as relays (17) through their control transistors (16). Transistor (18) senses the voltage drop across a common emitter resistor (23) of the control transistors (16). The sensing transistor (18) has a parallel capacitor/resistor (26, 19) collector circuit to filter out transients. It is coupled through an inverter (INVI) and one gate of an AND gate to a control input (S) of a flip-flop (14) which drives the control transistors (16). The sensing transistor (18) is also coupled through a logic circuit (22, 80) to the flip-flop (14). An excess current through the common emitter resistor (23) applies a logical signal through the sensing transistor (18) to the logic gates to switch off the control transistors (16) via the flip-flop (14). A clock signal also applied to the OR gate periodically retests the control transistors for excess current.
