Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé de réduction thermique d'oxydes métalliques. Elle se rapporte à un procédé dans lequel un oxyde, par exemple d'aluminium, est introduit en poudre fine avec un réducteur qui est par exemple du gaz naturel, dans un réacteur dans lequel la température dépasse 2 000 degrés C, les matières introduites formant un tourbillon. L'oxyde d'aluminium est réduit en vapeurs d'aluminium qui sont retirées avec le courant effluent de gaz, dans un condenseur dans lequel la température diminue rapidement si bien que l'aluminium forme un liquide très pur. Le contrôle de la teneur en carbone libre permet le réglage des paramètres de fonctionnement. Application à la fabrication de l'aluminium.
