Abstract

The static a.c. generator has an electromagnet (19) secured on a magnetic circuit (10) by two pieces of wood (15, 16), the end of the electromagnet (18) being located against one side of the circuit (18). The electromagnet (19) carries four sheet metal screens (20-23) one of which (22) protects one side of the first active coil (5) and its associated compensating coil (7). A second screen (20) protects another side of the compensating coil (7). A third screen (23) protects one side of a second active coil (6) and its associated compensating coil (8) while the fourth screen (21) protects one other side of the compensating coil (8). The coil (2) of the electromagnet (19) and the exciter coils (3, 4) carried by the two opposite sides of the magnetic circuit (18) are located between the transverse wooden pieces (15, 16) which carry the active coils (5, 6) and their compensating coils (7, 8). The electromagnet coil (2) carries a d.c. current while the exciter coils (3, 4) carry d.c. current. An alternating current is induced in the active coils (5, 6), giving a greater output than is possible with transformers.
