Abstract

A heat exchanger comprises an enclosure of parallelepipedal form divided by parallel partitions into a succession of spaces of ood order sepd. from one another by a succession of spaces of even order. The spaces are open at two opposite faces connected to mains such that one fluid circulates through the spaces of odd order while the other fluid circulates through the spaces of even order. The partitions are each formed of two walls, a principal wall and a safety wall, substantially in contact. The space between these walls communicates with the exterior to allow visible flow of any leakage of fluid due to a fissure in any of the walls. Deterioration of a wall is immediately noticeable but in addn. the undamaged wall continues to ensure perfect sepn. of the fluids in the appts. One of the surfaces in contact pref. has longitudinal channels facilitating flow of leakages and making them more visible.
