Abstract

The ladder has retractable stabilizing props (1) permanently attached to the lower region of the longerons (4). Each prop is raked when in use, its head attaching (5) slidably or demountably to a gusset plate (6), and its foot bearing on the ground. A pin-jointed tie (2) extends between the longeron and the mid-point of the prop. Both the prop and the tie fold flat against the longeron to retract. The prop head either slides in a gusset slot or detaches for re-attachment when retracted. In addn. the tie may inc. a lockable intermediate pin joint.
