Abstract

A layer of adsorbing material is deposited on a support by (a)first mixing a soln. of >=1 alkaline silicate, e.g. potassium or sodium silicate, and a soln. of alkaline or alkaline-earth acetate, e.g. sodium or barium acetate, (b) dispersing an adsorbent, partic. alumina, silica, zeolite, in insol., powder form, into the soln. obtd. from (a), pref. with vigorous stirring, (c) applying the dispersion to the support, e.g. by spraying, and (d) eliminating the solvent phase. The deposit is pref. activated by heat treatment. Several identical or different layers can be deposited on the support. The prod. is used for recovery of solar energy.
