Abstract
Appts. for treating waste water at high temp. with recuperation of heat energy is of the type in which the waste water is passed through the primary circuit of a heat exchanger. Clean water is heated in the secondary circuit of the exchanger and used as boiler feed water or for other industrial use. The primary circuit delivers waste water to a cooling tower. Upstream of the heat exchanger, the hot waste water can be directed simultaneously for instead directly to the cooling tower. The rate of flow through the prim. circuit is automatically regulated w.r.t. to the demand of the sec. circuit. This, if there is no flow in the sec. circuit, all the incoming waste water is diverted directly to the cooling tower. Water discharged from the cooling tower is pref. pumped to a waste water purificn. plant which can supply the sec. circuit of the heat exchanger or discharge to drain. Discharge to drain is detected and automatically actuates forced air circulation fans on the cooling tower. Used for recovering heat energy from waste water, partic. dye works effluent. Opt. use made of waste heat in effluent. Effluent cooled to a greater extent when diverted to drain.
