Abstract
The proposed slot insulation is a folium made up of at least two layers, one a metallic sheet and the other a dielectric. The metal acts as a protective layer for the thin dielectric. The space factor is higher and the heat transfer better than with a thick insulation folium used to give the necessary mechanical strength. Typical applications are in the stator slots of machines employed as alternators for motor vehicles. The metal can be steel or aluminium. If the latter is used then the dielectric layer can be produced electrochemically on the metal. A three layer folium may also be used with the metal in the centre.
