Abstract

The mould enables site casting of cellular building blocks in concrete. It comprises a rectangular box with an open top and handles. A central vertical split in the short sides (3), is closed by casting by a clip (11) in top edge notches (10), released to aid striking. The walls are reinforced by stiffeners (4) which incline at some 10 deg. to the vertical and converge in pairs on the base. Handle stirrups (8) are provided at two heights in the centres of the long walls (2), this position also locating notches (14) for the formation of block-having fracture lines. Tapered hollow columns (12) extend from the floor to form cavities, or alternatively permanent cavity formers are useD.
