Abstract

A system of controlling the angular position of the steering wheels of a road vehicle. It has a transverse rack (6) and pinion (4) integral with a steering column. It also has hydraulic assistance with a double action ram, the cylinder being coaxial with the rack and the piston (10) is fed to the rack. There are two sealed guide sleeves (16, 17) for the cylinder with identical internal and external dias. The sleeves are free of the cylinder in the mid steering position and in other posns. one sleeve is in and one out of the cylinder chamber.
