Abstract

Band saw is moved along a generator line of a tree trunk or a block of wood, and sawing is continued at right angles to the direction of the fibres, with the cutting teeth moving parallel to these same fibres, for the mfr. of wood wool or wood fibre. Displacement is reciprocal either of the saw relatively to the wood or the wood relative to the saw. The form of the wood wool is determined by the angle of attack or the profile of the tool, or by the speed of the relative feed. Invention makes it possible to produce two valuable prods. simultaneously and at low cost, i.e. planks and wood wool for packing, bedding of farm animals, etc., without the expense of fibrillising machines.
