Abstract

Marker buoy for use by divers comprises a split hollow casing including a mechanism for rewinding the tie cord to the diver, i.e. for recovery as the diver ascends. Because the split casing is not intrinsically buoyant, (unlike a sealed hollow body), buoyancy is assured by incorporating blocks of (closed cell) polyurethane foam. Pref. the components of the buoy shell are made of plastics materials, as are two sliding clamps of semi-rigid plastic to control the amt. of cable released and rewound by the coil mechanism.
