Abstract

Diffuser is fitted with a deflector to modify and extend the path followed by bubbles rising to the surface of the liq. The deflector is pref in the form of an inverted cone and bubbles are released just under the apex of the cone to rise as they move outwards along the wall of the cone. A gas downpipe pref has the deflector at the lower end, held in place by the diffuser which is fixed to the downpipe by a bolt. The bolt has an axial passage to allow gas to pass from the downpipe into the diffuser. The deflector is pref made of stainless steel and the gas diffused is pref O2. Used for diffusing gas into a liq partic. carbonating drinks, hydrogenating oils and oxygenating waste water to be purified. Extended contacting path of rising bubbles means that less gas is wasted by escaping to atmos. Fewer diffusers are required for a given duty, so the treatment is cheaper.
