Abstract

The temp. control includes reheating and cooling of portable containers e.g. sperm storage containers for artificial insemination, baby feeding bottles, drink dispensers etc. The Peltier effect elements (3, 4, 5) are miniaturised, have a low current consumption and are powered from a battery source, normally at 12 volts. The elements are housed in the base of the container together with the batteries and are connected in cascade with the heat exchanger (6). This is positioned in a channel (7) open to the outside of the container and takes or gives up heat to air driven past by a small fan (10). In the case of the sperm store, each phial has a separate compartment in a carrier immediately above the Peltier effect elements, a shaped lid completing the enclosure.
