Abstract

1,154,380. Refrigerators; cooling granular material. ESSO RESEARCH & ENG. CO. 20 Oct., 1967 [16 Nov., 1966], No. 51375/66. Headings F4H and F4U. [Also in Division A2] An apparatus for storing moist germinative material (e.g. grain, seeds, corms and potatoes) without substantial deterioration thereof, comprises an air-tight flexible container 2 (e.g. made of polyvinyl chloride, butyl rubber or an ethylene-propylene rubber) supported in a frame 1, means (e.g. a fan) for circulating air, in a closed circuit through container 2 and passages 5, 6 and 4 and a thermostatically controlled chilling or refrigeration unit 7 for chilling the circulating air when necessary, to a temperature below that at which the stored material is subject to mould attack or fermentation. The material is introduced into the container 2 through neck 9 and removed via auger shoot 8.
