Abstract

The door for a domestic oven is fitted with glass so that the interior can be seen from outside. To ensure that the outside is cooled to a determined amount, the door has two glass panes with a perforated metal sheet between them giving air gaps which give a greater cooling effect than a single glass sheet of the same overall thickness. The perforations permit adequate visibility through them, and the interior of the perforated sheet is coated with a heat reflective layer to increase the cooling effect. The outside surface may carry a decorative coating.
