Abstract

Procédé de fabrication d'une matière de friction, consistant à mélanger ensemble un liant, des modifiants de propriétés de friction, et de 5 à 30 % en poids de fibres de verre de manière à former une composition de matières, à mouler cette composition sous pression pour produire une briquette, et à cuire cette briquette de manière à polymériser le liant organique. Selon l'invention, le mélange des constituants de la composition est poursuivi jusqu'à ce que sa densité en vrac atteigne une valeur comprise entre 0,1 et 0,6 g/cm**3 grâce à la séparation des divers filaments qui constituent les fibres de verre. Application notamment à la réalisation de garnitures de friction pour freins et embrayages de véhicules automobiles.
