Abstract

The control system is used for the drive of a moving crane and for control of the load-carrying rope drive. Sudden and unexpected movements imposed upon the crane or on the loading platform are compensated. This system overcomes the sudden displacements of the shipboard crane or drilling platform due to wave movements. The load carrier, crane or moving load depositing surface has acceleration sensing transducers. Signals from these transducers are transmitted to the regulators connected to the drives so that unintentional movements are prevented. The load carrying spreaders, hooks or grabs have acceleration transducers for measuring accelerations in all dimensions. The regulators are connected to electrical or hydraulic driving systems so that any movements of the ship or drilling platform are prevented.
