Abstract
1,253,010. Taking up slack; loading and unloading ships. R. I. LAKIZA, P.I. SOLOVIEV, V. M. DUKOV, and G. R. BARON. 4 April, 1970, No. 16076/70. Heading B8B. Loads 2 are transferred to and from a ship 3 by a jib crane including a device compensating for the movement of the ship 3. A follow-up rope 4 is connected to the ship 3, passes over pulleys 5 on the jib 6 and over a pulley 12 on a cross-bar 13 to a winch 7 used for initial setting. The load rope 10 passes over pulleys 9 on the jib 6 and over other pulleys 12 on the cross-bar 13 to a load winch 11. The cross-bar 13 is mounted at one end of a lever 14, pivoted at P, the other end of which is connected to piston-rod 15 of an hydraulic piston-cylinder unit 16, 17. The liquid in the cylinder 17 is connected by a pipe 18 to an accumulator 19. Variation of the tension in the rope 4 due to movement of the ship 3 causes corresponding movement of the lever 14 resulting in compensation for the relative distance between the ship 3 and the load 2.
