Abstract
A barge (101) has a derrick (102) and is anchored in the sea by four blocks (107) arranged in a square. The blocks are connected by four guide lines (106) to winches (105) a diagonally opposed pair of the lines driving tacho signal generators (200). A package (109) is suspended on rod (111) between the blocks from a hook on platform (108). The platform is suspended from the derrick by pulley blocks and a line (104) which is secured to winch (103). The two decks of the platform are connected by active and passive systems each comprising a double acting jack and an accumulator.
