Abstract

The inlet manifold has two cast sections (1, 10) fitted together lengthwise. An internal partition (12) in one of them divides the total space into separate resonance chambers (11, 22). Three cylinders have inlets (A, B, C) from one of these chambers and three cylinders have inlets (D, E, F) from the other chamber. An equalizing chamber (3) is formed at one end of the composite manifold and resonance tubes (7, 8) run from it into the separate resonance chambers. The volumes of the chambers and tubes are proportioned to give a resonant supercharging effect.
