Abstract
An electrical switch has a variety of possible forms all based on the deformation of one or more non-metallic conducting membranes, such that they make contact with metal or other membrane electrodes. The switch is applicable to shock, pressure weight etc. operating functions in uses such as alarms, automatic door openers etc. The membrane (31, 32) may be a conducting rubber or similar material spaced from an electrode or electrodes by insulating edge supports (33, 34) deformation forcing the membrane across the spacing gap (35). High conductivity can be achieved by burying wires (36, 37) in the membrane.
