Abstract

1524081 Inertia switches SHORROCK DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 16 July 1976 [26 July 1975] 31348/75 Heading H1N A switch comprises a pair of side-by-side, parallel elongate terminals 12, 13 supporting at least one electrically conductive body 20, 21 which is lifted out of engagement with the terminals 12, 13 to break the electrical connection therebetween when the switch is subjected to vibration or impact. The terminals 12, 13 extend through a cylindrical housing 10 and support two metal rollers 20, 21 both of which, upon impact or vibration of the switch, must be lifted out of engagement with the terminals 12, 13 to cause the interruption of the current flow. The housing 10 has a ridge 27 which is located in a selected one of four grooves 31 in a mounting block 29 which is in turn fitted into a mounting bracket 32, the housing 10, block 29 and bracket 32 being secured together by adhesive. The terminals 12, 13 and/or the rollers 20, 21 may be gold plated and the terminals are grooved, screw threaded, corrugated or knurled. The terminals 12, 13 are provided with insulating spacers for separating the two rollers 20, 21. The bodies 20, 21 may alternatively comprise prisms.
