Abstract

The hydraulic axial piston unit comprises a housing (1) and an inclined cylinder block (7) with pistons (6) which are linked to a disc (4) on a drive shaft (3) carried in bearings (2). An hydraulic cylinder (12) has a plunger (11) co-axial with the shaft (3). The shaft contains an axial bore into which the plunger extends. The point at which the plunger engages the shaft is arranged in the area where the lateral movement of the shaft when under load is minimum. The bush forming the hydraulic cylinder may be rigidly secured to the housing whilst the plunger is pivotably linked to the drive shaft.
