Abstract

A hydraulic unit operable as a pump or as a motor comprises a cylinder block 11 rotatably mounted on a distributor valve member 12 and having pistons 9 connected to a flange 5 on a drive shaft 4, the distributor valve member 12 being angularly adjustable by a shaft 15 about an axis inclined to the drive shaft axis to vary the piston stroke, the cylinder block axis being inclined to the valve member axis, e.g. at substantially the same angle as that of the valve member axis to the drive shaft axis. <IMAGE>
