Abstract

In fixing of suspended ceilings, the self-anchoring hanger (10) takes advantage of linear uniform crevices (21) in the soffit f the floor above, the crevices being formed between e.g. precast beams (19) and permanent formers (20). The hanger may take the form of a rectangular spring steel plate, having anti-retraction barbs (11) formed by cut and folded triangular flaps, and being driven into position in the crevice. The barbs may be formed in the body of the plate or on the vertical edges, and may have specially hardened spiked tips. A central hole towards the lower edge of the plate may allow for a bolted connection of angle irons to which ceilings panels are attached, or alternatively the bottom edge may return square to locate vertical adjustable threaded suspension rods.
