The running surface for skis or ski covers includes step like profiles with vertical parts and other parts pointing backwards, rising towards the rear, across the underside. At least that section of the stepped surface also has parallel longitudinal grooves (3). These grooves may be semicircular or triangular, with pointed tips, or alternatively with the pointed tips removed, giving a shallower groove. Further alternatives are variations of these shapes.
