Abstract

A cross country ski has a central shallow flat groove (8) underneath. Four recesses (7) are also provided in the undersurface (6), two on one side of the central groove and two on the other side. The recesses are staggered, that is placed on each side of the groove alternately. Their total length stretches from the start of the upturned portion (9) to just short of the heel (10). Each recess is the same length and the end of one recess is level with the beginning of the next, on the opposite side. The recesses are fitted with anti skid linings (11) opposing rearwards movements of the ski.
