Abstract
Cet appareil est prévu pour assurer la mesure automatique de la proportion de particules d'une taille inférieure à une valeur prédéterminée en suspension dans un fluide. Il comprend une série d'éprouvettes contenant les suspensions à étudier, un agitateur 36, 37 servant à mélanger intimement la suspension contenue dans l'éprouvette, un récipient d'essai 15, un dispositif de transfert qui comprend un tube plongeur 9, une sonde 13, une pompe 14 et des robinets 25, 28, 30, 31, 32 et qui sert à prélever des échantillons de la suspension à un niveau donné dans chaque éprouvette et à transférer les échantillons au récipient 15, une source de rayons X 17 et un cristal détecteur 18 servant à mesurer la concentration des particules dans le récipient 15 et un dispositif de commande sous l'action duquel le dispositif de transfert envoie au récipient, pour la mesure, un premier échantillon de suspension melangé intimement, puis après un laps de temps donné un deuxième échantillon de suspension, ce laps de temps étant calculé pour que les particules de ladite dimension predéterminée descendent de la surface libre de la suspension audit niveau prédéterminé dans le vase conformément à la loi de Stokes.
