Abstract

The sealing system for rollers at the entry to a pressure treatment zone, such as for processing fabrics under heat and pressure in steam, in a hollow membrane with inlets for coolant and lubricant. There are drillings as outlets to carry fluid medium from the hollow zone round the contact zone, and drillings to carry off the lubricant. The actual contact section of thes seal forms a curved projection ranging from one side to the other of the linear seal, round the contact zone of the roller. It forms a triangular cross section with sharp points, giving a relatively linear contact between the seal and the sides of the rollers. The design reduces the friction between the rubber surfaces of the sealing rollers, and increases the cooling and lubrication effects at their contact zone.
