Abstract

The reciprocating drive is designed for use on the windscreen wiper system on a vehicle. It is controlled by an endless band which drives the wiper blade support via a carriage to sweep a rectangular area of the windscreen. The wiper is held against the glass by a spring which acts across one of the wiper joints. The system provides a wide angle, wide area wiper for the rear windscreen or even for the front windscreen. The blade performs a straight reciprocating action across the glass.
