Abstract
The heated one-piece sheet metal floor (120) is used in the fabrication of precast prestressed concrete beams or similar, constituting the soffit form for the precast products, and being mounted over a pit (124) contg. pipes (121) feeding steam. A battery of side forms is used with the floor, being fixed in place to obtain longitudinal lines of moulds. The floor is free to move relative to the substructure (100), clamp-action fasteners being utilised to anchor it at one of two or more alternative points. The system avoids cracking of the products due to thermal movement of the floor, the particular anchorage utilised being located within the length of a product under consideration. The fasteners may be of a two jaw clamp type, a movable jaw (108) being displaced by a jack to grip a longitudinal edge of the floor.
