Abstract

A duct leads from the outside of the building to the underside of an open fireplace built against an outside wall. A further duct takes the air between the back of the fire and the wall to a tank built into the chimney. The air is heated and its pressure is slightly raised in the back duct and the tank. Discharge ducts from the tank take the hot air to outlets at high level in the room. It gives up its heat to the room, drops to low level and is exhausted to outside. It takes any fumes and cigarette smoke out with it.
