Abstract

The treatment of suspensions of finely divided residues in a liq. medium by decantation and washing involves partial recycling, to >=1 washing stage, of a part of the overflow from the same stage. The recycling is pref. carried out so as to lower the concn. of finely divided solid residues by a factor of 15-20 w.r.t. the initial concn. The process is used partic. to treat suspensions of finely divided residues in a brine, these suspensions resulting from the initial treatment of potash ores. The amt. of potassium-contg. material in the slurry rejected after the treatment, and thus the loss of K-contg. material, is reduced.
