Abstract

The siphonic outlet is used on domestic baths or similar, having a two way outfall chamber which is design to prevent loss of seal due to outfall velocities. A vertical inlet tube (1) and a raised horizontal outlet (2) are connected by the outfall chamber (3), the latter having a restricted inlet of a lesser dimension (a) than its width. A transverse diaphragm wall (5) divides the chamber vertically into two (6, 7) and has apertures (10, 11) at the head and foot, the lower (10) aperture being further restricted by a wave formation (9) in the chamber floor. The wave guides effluent into the leading zone (7) of the chamber, relatively small flows at low velocity entering the trailing zone (6) through the lower aperture (10) and, thus, the seal being retained.
