Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the suction of air bubbles stemming from vortex flow and contrarotation, by installing a baffle plate facing the flow of water from a suction passage in a pump suction water conduit, making up a release water-surface which stagnates the surface of water in the suction passage between the baffle plate and a rising wall. CONSTITUTION:At the inlet position of a pump suction water conduit 1, there sets up a rising wall 3 being immersed in water below a suction passage X leading to the pump suction water conduit 1, and at a fixed position above this rising wall 3 upstream, a baffle plate 4 which faces a water current Y perpendicularly, by way of example, is installed so that a release water-surface 5 between this baffle plate 4 and the rising wall 3 is made up there. According to this construction, a stream of water produced in pump suction may generate vortex flow due to collision with the baffle plate 4 but, in this procedure, there entails stagnation in the release water-surface 5 between the baffle plate 4 and the rising wall 3 so that the vortex flow may be clearly eliminated.
