Abstract

The cooker-hood has a pivotable flap (2) whose inclination can be varied to control the outflow of fumes. An edge of the flap pivots about the bottom horizontal edge of the hood facade (1), the hinge including a friction mechanism which holds the flap at a desired inclination. The hinge may be of the ball and socket type, a round section bar (5) associated with the flap frame (4) being received in a segmental channel (6). The channel is of a 'T' section formed on an internal facade return (1a), opens out at the bottom to form opposed segmental seats gripping the flap bar (5), and contains a piston type friction pad (8).
