Abstract

The invention relates to a device for articulation of a cover 1 on an item of furniture and for holding this cover in any intermediate position by means of compensation. The cover 1 is articulated on a wall 2 of the item of furniture and the device comprises means fixed to the cover and means fixed to the wall, the said means not extending beyond the thickness of the cover or of the wall, and interacting together in order to permit the opening or the closing of the cover 1, to permit its holding and to ensure a firm and stable position of closure. In the preferred embodiment, the means consist of a brake 10 acting on a cam 5. The brake is applied on the cam 5, by virtue of a spring 8, all the more forcefully when the cover is in a position close to the position of closure.
