Abstract

Procédé de stockage et de restitution d'énergie suivant lequel on chauffe du carbonate de calcium de maniere à effectuer la décarbonatation de ce matériau ainsi transformé en chaux vive avec dégagement de gaz carbonique. Il est caractérisé en ce que l'on refroidit la chaux vive ainsi obtenue pour assurer le préchauffage du carbonate de calcium, on stocke la chaux vive refroidie, et on restitue, à la demande, l'énergie stockée en mettant la chaux vive au contact d'un courant de gaz chargé de gaz carbonique de manière à effectuer la carbonatation de la chaux vive, en vue d'utiliser la chaleur dégagée par cette réaction de carbonatation, ladite chaleur étant véhiculée par le gaz vecteur du gaz carbonique. L'invention est applicable à la production d'électricité.
