Abstract

PURPOSE: To recover power from a high pressure, low temperature, low oxygen waste gas generated by oxydation reaction, it is mixed with combustion gas to provide a high temperature, high pressure gas, and introduced into expander.
CONSTITUTION: A waste gas 7 from oxydation reaction process 1 is introduced into a combined high pressure burner and gas mixer 4, after, if required, its pressure being adjusted. Meanwhile, the burner-mixer 4 receives fuel 6 and air or 02 5 which is compressed by compressor 2 to the same pressure as the waste gas to be mixed with the waste gas 7. The mixed gas in the burner-mixer 4 is decreased in temperature to an adequate value for use in expander 8, e.g. to 600 to 1000°C for continuous industrial use, or 1000 to 1500°C for short time operation. The so adjusted gas 9 is admitted into the expander 8 for use as driving gas, then waste gas 11 is discharged from stack 10.
