Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the removal efficiency of hydrocarbon by a method wherein the gas is burnt in the atmosphere with the specific temperature and during the specific retaining time in the process in which the waste gas containing hydrocarbon gas is decomposed into CO2 and H2O.
CONSTITUTION: The waste gas containing the hydrocarbon gas discharged from a hydrocarbon generating equipment 1 such as paint spryaing apparatus or the like is sent, as combustion air, by a blower 2 through a heat exchanger 3 with the fuel 5 directly to a combustion equipment 4 such as steel strip heating furnace or the like and burnt in the high temperature atmosphere of not less than 800°C and during the retaining time of not shorter than 0.5sec. Under the condition described above, the hydrocarbon gas in the waste gas is decomposed into harmless CO2 and H2O and, after being heat-exchanged with the waste gas which is sent through the heat exchanger 3 to the combustion equipment 4, discharged through a chimney 6 to the atmosphere. According to the method described above, the waste gas containing the hydrocarbon gas can be disposed with high efficiency without any need of establishing exclusive disposal equipment.
