Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the period of time required for an aging settletment by a method wherein a slowly cooled blast furnace slag is heaped outdoors and gases in the heap of slag are positively discharged to the outside of the heap.
CONSTITUTION: The slowly cooled blast furnace slag is heaped outdoors, and several hollow pipes 5 are driven downward into the heap of the slag from the top surface of the base. By the presence of the pipes 5, the gases in the heap 1 are positively discharged. By such a simple method, the period of time required for the aging treatment can be largely reduced. In addition, it is more advantageous to use an exhaust pipe fitted with a ventilator or a blower or an exhaust pipe connected with an exhaust equipment in place of the hollow pipes 5.
