Abstract
The basis of a collector for solar radiation is a honeycomb structure arranged in a non-horizontal plane, so that an upper edge is formed on which the liquid to be heated is allowed to fall, together with a bottom edge from which it is collected. The cells of the honeycomb are sufficiently reduced in size for capillary action to cause the water to form masses which block them in spite of its running over the faces of the structure; the angle of inclination of the plane of the structure to the vertical, being less than the limit at which the liq. would fall vertically from the structure instead of passing through each cell of the honeycomb and into those immediately below. The structure is light in wt. and inexpensive; the honeycomb of aluminium being enclosed by two transparent panels, so that it can be fitted to glasshouses of all types.
