Abstract

In the case of swivels with two parts (1, 2), one (1) of which has a journal (3) and one (2) has a hole (6) which serves to receive this journal (3) and where the journal is held in the hole (6) by balls (7) which can be introduced from outside into a ball track formed by grooves (4, 5) in the journal (3) and the hole (6), the object is to create favourable conditions of support for the balls (7). In order to achieve this, the zones of the grooves (4, 5) in which the balls (7) are supported on the journal (3) and on the hole (6) are continuous, i.e. the balls are introduced into the ball track via a filling channel (9) which opens into the ball track outside the load-bearing zone. The absence of an interruption results in smooth running of the balls (7) and these are subjected to less stress, with the result that the life of the swivel is noticeably increased.
