Abstract

Appts. for mixing a liq. from a first chamber with another liq. in a second chamber is described. In the second chamber, a horizontal rotor at a level below that of the liq. surface pumps upwards and outwards forming a cavity in the surface of the liq. above, and extending down to the rotor. Liq. from the first chamber is piped, pref. by gravity flow, into the cavity above the rotor. Delivery of liq. from the first chamber is pref. via a horizontal pipe which discharges into a funnel located coaxially within the cavity in the liq. surface. The delivery pipe is pref. adjustable to be inclined to the horizontal. Used for mixing two liquids from separate containers or compartments, partic, in the treatment of waste water, e.g. sludge recycling. Appts. is capable of rapidly producing an homogeneous mixt. Adaptable for recycling as required. Tilting delivery pipe facilities adjustment of flow rate.
