Abstract

The driving position (1) of the forward control vehicle is mounted on a self-supporting sub frame (4) which is linked to the chassis by a series of shear elements (6) and which is braced fore and aft by elastic dampers. One damper (7) is set between the subframe and the front face (9) of the vehicle while the other (8) is set in front of a chassis bulkhead. The driver of the forward control vehicle is protected against frontal impacts and is thus not easily trapped in such conditions.
