Abstract

The apparatus is used for measuring humps and comprises horizontal and vertical arms graduated from a common point. Each arm has a cursor, that on the horizontal arm corresponding in length to an extension of the vertical arm below the common point. This cursor is placed on the hump, the extension resting in the corresponding depression. The horizontal cursor on the vertical arm is set to the reading of the vertical cursor and the hump height is read directly off the horizontal cursor using an indicator rod weighted and pivoted vertically.
