Abstract

L'invention a pour objet une composition intumescente moulable, caractérisée en ce qu'elle comprend : a. un silicate de sodium en poudre ayant une taille moyenne de particules inférieure à 500 mu , un rapport pondéral SiO2 / Na2 O compris entre 2,3 et 3,5 et contenant de 15 à 35 % en poids d'eau; b. de 3 à 20 % en poids, par rapport au silicate de sodium en poids à sec, d'un gel de silice, ayant une surface spécifique de 100 à 400 m**2/g, une taille moyenne de particules de 2 à 40 millimicrons et environ de 2 à 6 groupes siliciques par 100 Angström**2, amenant le rapport SiO2 /Na 2 O entre 3,0 et 4,5; c. de 8 à 33 % en poids, par rapport au poids du silicate de sodium en poids à sec d'au moins un composé choisi parmi les oxydes et hydroxydes d'aluminium, magnésium ou d'un métal alcalino-terreux, ayant une taille moyenne de particules inférieure à 300 mu , et d. de 30 à 60 % en poids, par rapport au silicate de sodium en poids à sec, d'eau complémentaire. Cette composition est destinée à la fabrication de formes moulées utilisables dans un dispositif coupe-feu.
