Abstract

One (9) of the two objects has a surface which is partly and at least approx. spherical. The other object has a number of electromagnetic devices (4-6) positioned on a circle and, when energised generate lines of forces which intersect the surface of the first object (9). Inductance coils (12-14) generate ac for supply of the electromagnetic units (4-6) with a phase shift between each pair of units so that a relative rotation between the two objects is induced about an axis (7) passing through the circuit. Holding devices control lateral relative movement between the two objects.
